Information for Students

Students are expected to:  

• Pray…'Dear God, help me to do all things to your glory today.'
• Ensure you have access to the teacher’s plan for the day.  
• Attempt each of the ‘expected’ tasks your teacher has set…some may be more important to complete than others. 
• Read each task carefully…try to get started all by yourself. 
• Return the work that your teacher has asked you to present. 
• Ask good questions. 
• Contribute to discussions meaningfully. 
• Ensure appropriate use of electronic devices and the internet just like we expect at school.
• Thank God for two things at the end of the day. 

Students are expected to:  

• Commit to thoroughly completing all tasks set by teachers in Canvas for each lesson or group of lessons allocated by their teacher. 
• View the completion of these tasks as an opportunity to learn and more deeply understand the topic being studied. 
• Submit all work tasks set by teachers through Canvas or by another platform otherwise stated by their teacher. 
• Read and respond to all feedback provided by their teacher with a view to further developing a knowledge and understanding of the topic being studied. 
• Commit to asking questions where difficulties arise in the understanding of instructions or content, and when good discussion topics come to mind. 
• Ensure appropriate use of electronic devices and the internet in accordance with the Secondary Technology Guide and Agreement.
• Workstations, or musical instruments for music tuition, must be in a family area of the house (not a bedroom).
• Students should identify a comfortable, quiet space where they can work effectively and efficiently.
• If possible, a parent or other member of the family should be nearby but they are asked not to become involved in the class.
• Students are asked to let their family know when they will be participating in a video conference, so their family members are aware.
• Students should wear sports uniform online, ensuring that the background is set to ‘blurred’.
• As digital learning is still a classroom environment, students are expected to follow the instruction of the teacher.All school behaviour expectations apply to video conferencing. Students should listen carefully to the teacher and follow all instructions.
• Students should contact their teacher through Canvas if they require extra assistance with work.
• Students should keep their device where it can be supervised during the lesson.
• Students must wait in the waiting room and the teacher must end the call for all participants at the end of the class.
• Students should ensure their device is fully charged or plugged in prior to class.
• Students should gather books, equipment and printed work (if applicable) prior to the lesson so they are ready at the beginning of the session.
• Students should keep their device muted until instructions are given by the teacher.
• Students should be patient in waiting for feedback from teachers. It should be delivered in a reasonable/appropriate time frame.

Your teachers will routinely email your parents   

• There will be work for you to do each day.
• You are welcome to do the work at any time during the week, but it is hoped that you will achieve the core work by the end of the week.
• Some of your tasks will be in the booklets which have been sent home already. Other tasks will involve home-based activities.
• You may find that you get through the work quickly because you won’t have the usual school-based routines e.g. assemblies.

Your teachers will upload content to your Canvas subject pages.  

• There will be work established for each day.
• You are welcome to do the work at any time during the week, but it is hoped that you will finish the core work by the end of the week.
• Your instructions will be provided via the ‘Announcements’ function in Canvas. Read what your teacher would like you to do and then complete the work.
• Given that this is flexible delivery, your teacher will ask you to do some work which is offline e.g. Read a portion of a novel of your choosing.
• You may be asked to upload work for feedback. If so, please do this by the due dates which your teacher has set.
• You will be able to ask your teacher clarifying questions via canvas. 

Your teachers will upload content to your Canvas subject pages.  

• There will be work for each day on which you would have a class.
• You are welcome to do the work at any time during the week, but it is expected that you will finish the week’s work by the end of the week.
• Your instructions will be via the ‘Announcements’ function in Canvas. Read what your teacher would like you to do and then complete the work.
• Given that this is flexible delivery, your teacher will ask you to do some work which is offline e.g. Read a portion of a novel of your choosing.
• You will be asked to upload work for feedback. Please do this by the due dates which your teacher has set.
• You will be able to ask your teacher questions and they will endeavour to get back to you by the end of the school day.

• There will be work for each day on which you would have a class.
• Your teacher will be online during your regular lesson time. We would also encourage you to be online during your regular lesson time to communicate with your teacher. Further directions regarding lesson expectations will be given by individual teachers.
• Your instructions will be via the ‘Announcements’ function in Canvas. Read what your teacher would like you to do and then complete the work.
• Given that this is flexible delivery, your teacher will ask you to do some work which is offline e.g. Read a portion of a novel of your choosing.
• You will be asked to upload work for feedback. Please do this by the due dates which your teacher has set.

We are still using the same assessment schedules which were given out before we moved to flexible delivery. Have a look on your assessment schedule. If there are any changes, as always, an official letter will be sent.  

Please follow the usual procedures. If you are in Year 11 or 12, please use the illness and misadventure form. During the COVID-19 period, we are not requiring medical certificates.  

If any assessments are postponed, you will be advised of an alternate date or schedule (and possibly an alternate task). 

If you cannot access resources, please email your teacher ahead of time to outline what you think you need. They will do their best to help.  

If after emailing your teacher, appropriate resources cannot be provided, you may submit your assessment but also ask for an illness and misadventure form.  

Most of your assessments should be submitted electronically via Canvas, so there should be no need for a printer. However, should you need to write on paper and send to your teacher, please use the OneDrive app. It will allow you to take a photo of your document which will automatically be uploaded to your OneDrive account. You can then submit it from there. 

Don’t worry. There are so many ways to get feedback.

• Send a message via Canvas

Or, if these are not effective/ possible:

• Send an email with your questions
• Line up a time to phone your teacher
• Come into school (if you are able)
