to Covenant

To help you as begin your journey with Covenant, here is the most important information. Please contact the Office if you have any other specific questions.

Return to school dates 2022

The plans for the start of the year will be finalised soon and families will be advised through the school newsletter or email.

First day and orientation (to be confirmed):

  • Tuesday 1 February – first day of school for Prep 2 day class, Year 7, Year 11, Year 12.
  • Wednesday 2 February – first day of school for Prep 3 day class, Years 1 to 6, Years 8 to 10.
  • Thursday 3 February – first day of school for Kindergarten.
Edumate Parent Portal

Every parent is automatically issued a login for the Edumate Parent Portal. Parents will receive this via email, typically during the week your child starts. An important element of the portal is that parents have the ability (and responsibility) to update your own personal details (e.g. phone, address, email) and your child's details, including medical details and emergency contact information, directly in Edumate. It is most important that each individual parent logs into the portal to ensure that their own details and each of your children are correct. If any of these details change during the year, they need to be updated immediately.

Please note the portal is not optimised for use on mobile devices. You will need to use a PC or Laptop device in order to access the portal.

If you have any questions, or difficulty accessing the portal, please contact TechServe via the School Office

Absences

Absences

It is a requirement that within seven days of a student absence, a parent/guardian provide an explanation for an absence.

The Covie App allows you to approve absences from your mobile. You no longer need to email or call the school or send in a note.

Arriving Late/Leaving Early

If a student arrives at school late or is to leave early, a note must also be provided. The only exception to this is if the lateness is due to a bus running late. All students (other than Infants) must sign in and out via Student Reception and hand their note explaining their late arrival/early departure to the Office.

Application for Extended leave

If you plan on taking your child out of school for an extended period of time, an Application for Extended Leave - Travel 5 days or more is required. Please give as much notice as you can regarding this leave. This form should be submitted to the School Office for approval. The school reserves the right to decline the request if, in the opinion of the school, the request will be significantly detrimental to the child's education. Secondary students will be required to catch up on class work and will need to arrange this with their subject teacher prior to leaving.

Opal Cards

Applications for student travel in 2022 are expected to open in October 2021.

Students who require a School Opal card or travel pass for 2022 can apply online. A new application should be submitted if a student is applying for a school travel pass for the first time or requesting an additional pass as a result of a new shared parental responsibility situation (e.g. joint custody).

Students who have changed school/campus, changed address, repeated a year or received an expiry notification from Transport for NSW for their school travel entitlement should re-apply or update their details.

Where there is a change of distance eligibility based on a student’s grade, the system will automatically update a student’s entitlement if they meet the new criteria. If they do not meet the new eligibility criteria, they will receive an expiry notification via email.

Applications need to be submitted before 31 December to ensure that current student entitlements are updated and their current entitlement/card remains valid. If their application is submitted after 31 December, the system will automatically cancel an entitlement/card and a new one will need to be issued.

Photo Permissions

There are many occasions during the year where the school may collect images or recordings of students in keeping with our Privacy Policy and Privacy Statement as updated from time to time. We use many of these for internal school use and in our annual publication of the Yearbook and these uses are covered in the documents above.

If at any time you would like to change your consent for how the school collects, uses and discloses images of your child in relation to our website, social media or promotional materials, you can do so by completing this form. You may also take a photo of your form and email it to admin@covenant.nsw.edu.au. If your consent has not changed, you are not required to do anything.

If you would like to speak with our Privacy Officer, please contact the Office.

Parent Involvement Program (PIP)

The Parent Involvement Program (PIP) encourages parents to be involved in the life of the school community. Each family with students from Kindergarten to Year 12 pays a Maintenance Levy that is waived when parents complete 24 hours of volunteer work in a year.
