It is a blessing to pray together as a school community! Our Prayer Group warmly invites you to join them in prayer every Thursday during term time, from 9.00-9.30am in Cafe Covie.
Each week in the newsletter, our Prayer Group provides a passage of Scripture for us to meditate on and some prayer suggestions for the week ahead. These can all be found here.
Head of Secondary, Sam Glassock, headed to Urban Camp this week to speak with Mr Childs and Year 10 students, Yeri, Marsy and Caleb, about the impact this camp has had on them. So grab a cuppa and be encouraged!
This week we have the pleasure of getting to know Mr Michael Dang just a little bit better.
Mr Dang, what is your role here at Covie?
I'm a Mathematics teacher.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Going out with family, swimming, jogging and sightseeing.
Who had the biggest impact on your life growing up and why?
My father - because he modeled to me what working hard looks like and to uphold morals. From uni onwards, it's been Jesus, because he died for my sins and changed my life.
Do you have any nicknames? We'd love to know them 🙂
Mickey D.
What is awesome about your church family?
It is friendly, loving and Jesus centred.
Who is your favorite author?
René Goscinny.
Tell us how you become a Christian?
At a camp in 1992 I was convicted of my own sin and God forgave me. Later on, I understood that he died for me so that he can forgive me.
If you could have dinner with two famous people from history, who would you choose and why?
Jesus, so I can ask him all the questions I can't answer, and a master chef in Chinese cooking so I can have a nice Chinese meal and ask him how to cook it so I can make it.
What’s one thing you wish others knew about you?
Whenever I face challenges in life, God is there with me and for me and I can depend on him.
So much happens every week at Covenant. Below are some things that have happened lately:
Josh S (Year 12) and Lexi S (Year 10) were selected to play for the Open Boys and Open Girls North MET teams at the CSSA State Touch Football Championships last week in Werrington. It was a great day and a strong competition across the state. Congratulations to both North MET Open's teams who won their grand finals.
With many of our Secondary students away on camp, Prep had the perfect opportunity to visit one of the Secondary science labs. The children were very excited to sit at a desk like the ‘big people’.
Our Lab assistants, Mrs Hunter and Mrs Chow, had set up stations around the room for the children to see and interact with, including:
Mrs Hunter and Mrs Chow showed the children how a bunsen burner worked and carried out an experiment using chemicals that change colour. The children had a wonderful time and are now very excited to study science in Secondary School!
We give thanks to God for our Year 9 team and the work he has been doing in our students and the people of Yarrabah. Our students have been doing an amazing job, forming friendships with the Yarrabah kids and presenting the great news of Jesus. We can't wait to hear their stories next term!
A huge congratulations to Vida VG (Year 4) on representing Covenant and Combined Independent Schools (CIS) at the recent NSWPSSA Swimming Championships. Vida competed in the Junior Girls 200m Individual Medley and came an astounding 19th place in the entire state! We're so thrilled for you Vida! #covieproud
We would love you to come and be part of the upcoming events below. You'll have opportunities to meet other parents, as well as members of staff.
We are seeking a passionate Christian educator to join our Science faculty in this permanent, full-time position. If you or someone you know might be interested, please view the Job Description for more information about the role and how to apply.

From Saturday 19 April 2025, Transport will make changes to some train services on the T1 North Shore, T5 Cumberland, Hunter and Central Coast & Newcastle Lines.
These changes are being introduced as part of a regular review of train services to improve services for passengers.
Some T1 North Shore services will be extended from Hornsby to Berowra, improving connectivity for school students travelling home on the T1 North Shore Line in both directions.
As a result, minor adjustments will also be made to the departure times of some weekday afternoon services for all stations on the T1 North Shore Line from Hornsby to Roseville.
All adjustments are minor but may mean some services arrive a little earlier, or depart later, or there are additional services available which weren’t an option previously.
The adjustments are part of a regular review of services by Sydney Trains and are now visible on transportnsw.info and travel apps.
It can be hard to stay on top of all the information. Below is some information from the past few weeks that you might need a reminder of.
Each family with students from Kindergarten to Year 12 is asked to contribute up to 24 hours per year to the life of the school. These hours can be completed by either parent and can be done at any time throughout the school year. Once you've completed your PIP hours for the year, complete the new PIP Declaration of Hours form. Only one form per family needs to be submitted each year. You can submit your form at any time during the year when you have completed your PIP hours. Once this form is processed, a credit of $210 for each 6 hours of PIP will be applied to your fee account, up to a maximum of $840 for 24 hours for the year.
