Have you heard the phrase, “It’s too good to be true”? We use it to describe something so positive, something we are so joyful about that it starts to feel like it can’t be real. Life has got lots of good things in it. Food, friends, fun. But when things get too good, sometimes we start to doubt them.
That feeling must be what it was like to find out Jesus was resurrected from the dead.
He is not here: he has risen!Luke 24: 6 (NIV)
Jesus' disciples certainly had an amazing journey. From being fishermen, to seeing Jesus perform all sorts of amazing miracles - telling a storm to be still; getting out of a boat and walking on the water; making food appear from nothing at all; healing every different problem you could think of. But things took a serious turn for the worse. Jesus was found guilty, even though he was totally innocent. Jesus suffered horrendously and died in shame and in pain. So many of his followers had given up hope. Whilst watching Jesus die, maybe the disciples felt like things had gone too wrong; that this couldn't be God's plan.
And then they were told, 'Jesus isn’t dead!' Even though he had suffered and died, He wasn’t dead anymore! He had defeated death. God had a plan all along. Even in the very worst times, even when everything is horrible and hurts, God is at work. Jesus can’t be defeated. Jesus can’t fail. Even death doesn’t have the last laugh. This is the best news. It’s real hope we can truly trust in.
Not all good news is too good to be true. Jesus resurrection is real and really brings life and hope to everyone who trusts it. Jesus isn’t too good to be true. Jesus resurrection is the very best thing and its genuinely real.
For everyone who trusts King Jesus, we share the deepest and most wonderful hope. No matter what's happening, no matter how hard or sad things look. Every bad and painful thing will be washed away. Death has been defeated on the cross.
Jesus has died so that you and I can live. Jesus will be coming back to complete the job, restoring everything, so that we can enjoy life with him forever.
This is our reason to celebrate Easter.

Knowing God Coordinator
It is an extraordinary privilege to be part of a school where we intentionally take the time to celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus together! We did this today, with all our students from Prep to Year 12, as we gathered together for our Easter Assembly. At Covenant, whilst we love Maths and English and Science (and the rest), we love Jesus most of all. So today we put aside our regular programming to fix our eyes on the Lamb who was slain and who was raised in glory. It is to him we bring our praise and glory. Happy Easter.
You were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation...Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!Revelation 5
On Tuesday, Year 3 went on an excursion to the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden. Students enjoyed exploring God's creation and interacting with nature.
As well as bush walking, the excursion included bug hunting and identifying, observing different endemic plants, habitat building, pond explorations, duck feeding and more!
Chef, doctor, football player, cowboy, Jedi Knight…as a child, what did you dream of becoming?
On Tuesday, inspired by their earliest career aspirations, our Year 12s dressed the part and raised money for Tearfund – a Christian relief and development agency – in the spirit of giving other children the same chance to fulfil their dreams as they have had.
So far over $150 has been raised – nice work Year 12!
Congratulations to Nathan and Angela who received their Gold Award at the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Ceremony last Thursday, and to Rebecca, Daniel, Damien and Ethan, Class of 2023, who also achieved their Gold Award but were unable to attend the presentation ceremony.
In 2023, Covenant had a huge completion rate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, with eight students completing their Gold Award, nine students achieving Silver and 36 students achieving their Bronze Award.
Taking part in the Award takes commitment, a spirit of adventure, decision making, goal setting and perseverance in achieving them. It won't be easy, however, the sense of accomplishment you'll feel at the end of the journey will be worth it.Duke of Edinburgh's Award
There are four foundational elements to the scheme: Voluntary Service, Physical Recreation, Skills and Adventurous Journey and a one-week Residential Project (Gold Award level). These are designed to provide progressive personal challenges.
The awards highlight the achievements of individuals and enables personal growth by learning new skills and challenging themselves, as well as serving others.
It is encouraging to see so many of our students engaging in areas that are of significant challenge, and they have been faithfully assisted along their journey by our dedicated staff.
We are grateful to Lisa Peterson as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader (Silver and Gold) for providing direction, guidance and encouragement to our students and to Alison Vander Straaten for overseeing this program.
Last weekend, NSW Fencing Association held their 6th Annual 2024 Peter Witkop Shield, where fencers represent their local club in this overall Club Shield tournament. The ages ranged from U8 to U14 in Epee, Foil and Sabre events.
Congratulations to Angela P, in Year 6, who achieved a Bronze medal in U12 Fencing. Well done Angela, this is a wonderful achievement. We look forward to seeing you continue to use your gifts for God's glory.
