Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
Praise God that he is truth!
Please continue to pray for our school and community:
Students and technology, that they would use their phones and devices wisely, for safety online and positive connections with others.
Year 3 and 4 sleepover Friday-Saturday at school, that the kids would be settled and have a happy, safe and memorable time.
Year 3 excursion on Tuesday to the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden. For good weather and for the kids to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation as they explore the gardens.
CIS Primary Swimming Championships at Sydney International Aquatic centre on Wednesday.
Year 12 Visual Arts excursion on Monday to the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Art Gallery of NSW. For safety as they travel independently to the city.
Year 11 Industrial Technology excursion to BRACE joinery on Tuesday. May the excursion help students in their understanding of how businesses in the Timber Industry operate.
Years 10–12 Careers Night taking place on Wednesday. May this be a helpful and informative evening for students and parents in guiding them towards decisions for their future.
Year 10 Allwell testing on Wednesday, that all will go smoothly and that students will give of their best and not feel any anxiety around the testing.
Prayer Group meets on Thursdays 9.00-9.30am, in T9. All welcome. Please email us at prayergroup@covenant.nsw.edu.au if you would like us to pray for you.
We have been blessed with a wonderful school Vision and Mission statement. It undergirds all we do, all we teach and how we behave. The Vision and Mission gives us direction and purpose.
The Vision is clear – we serve faithfully in God’s plan of restoration, to bring all things under the lordship of Jesus. This is our purpose and song.
The Mission has many parts and it has been my goal to grapple both with staff and students, through the four pillars it presents: an education that is Christ-centred, biblically grounded, culturally engaging and academically rigorous.
To date, students have had assembly talks where the pillars have been unpacked. It has been good to hear our leaders talk through these.
More recently, our Junior staff have had opportunity to discuss how these pillars of our Mission statement are addressed in the classroom. It is good to ask “How is my classroom Christ-centred?” There is joy and reflection in these conversations. There are also opportunities to think and make decisions to be more intentional in the classroom in discussing our Mission.
The classrooms will soon have this poster on their walls, so that the students have a quick reminder of the pillars upon which our Mission is built. I am excited to see students grapple with these and even to see the way it influences their decisions.
Christ-centred
Jesus is our all and he is in all. He is our reason for living and the centre of our lives. We live to serve him and we live to bring glory to him.
Biblically grounded
Reflecting on God’s story and character is of upmost importance. His story makes sense and give purpose to this world and to each of our lives. The Bible also shows us how to live and how to view the world that he has made.
Culturally engaging
We want our students to be interacting with culture with a Godly focus. We want our students to be constantly asking “What does God have to say about this?” or “How would God want be to respond to that?” We want our students to be in the world, but not of the world, impacting the world for his glory.
Academically rigorous
It is our role to realise that all students are unique, made by God. Students tend to vary in their abilities and it is so important to provide an academically rigorous education for each child, wherever they sit. This involves both support to hit goals along with support to stretch skills and understanding.
I look forward to hearing how your Vision and Mission conversations are going with your children. May they be motivating, challenging and framing for each child’s education.
On Wednesday, our Year 12 English Advanced students travelled to the city to attend a Symposium on Module A texts ‘The Tempest’ and ‘Hag-Seed’, at the Seymour Centre, Chippendale.
Sport for Jove presented a detailed analysis of Shakespeare’s famous play in preparation for the HSC, including a dramatic performance of key scenes which was a highlight for our Drama students!
This was a fantastic opportunity for students to unpack key elements of the play and novel, as well as experience live theatre and robust discussions. Not to mention a great location for a game of chess!
Primary State Swimming Carnival
While most kids were having dinner and getting ready for bed, Ruby, Vida, Henry, Emma, Mia and Macsen were keenly and nervously competing at the twilight Primary State Swimming Carnival at Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre on March 7.
It was a privilege to see these talented students try their best and use the gifts God has given them in an even more competitive platform. It was a wonderful positive and encouraging group, who are now ready to set some new goals for the future.
Thank you to the parents for taking a long trip out to watch them swim and encourage each student.
Congratulations to Mia (50m freestyle and 50m butterfly) and Macsen (50m breaststroke) for making to the next stage to swim at the CIS in late March.
Thanks to Cassie Climpson for expertly overseeing this event.
CIS Football Championships
Congratulations to Marco G, Mackenzie J and Ellie R for making the CSSA teams to play in the CIS Secondary Football Championships on June 3-4.
Marco - CSSA 16&U Boys Football Team
Mackenzie and Ellie - CSSA 18&U Girls Football Team

Drop-off and pick-up of students at Covenant
Thank you for your patience at drop-off and pick-up times each day, which makes a big difference. We recognise there is a lot of traffic congestion at these times, however, the safety of our students during this busy time is our greatest concern. The following guidelines are designed to ensure both the safety of our student and parent community, as well as assist with the flow of traffic.
Only park in designated spaces, particularly in Dell Street.
Avoid parking on the corners of Dell Street and Waldon Road as this blocks the buses from turning safely.
Avoid making 3-point-turns using driveways in Dell Street, Waldon Road or Bundaleer Street.
Adhere to the speed limit at all times, but slow down especially when near children or if visibility is poor.
Pick up children from the Dell Street turning circle from the parking spaces identified (kiss and drop area)
Consider alternative places to collect your child (for example, the Wakehurst Rugby Clubhouse).
Thank you for helping to ensure the safety of our students.
