Our Statement of Commitment to Child Safety
All children and young people are precious in the sight of God. It is the responsibility of all members of the Christian community to love the children in their care. This love, so clearly described in 1 Corinthians 13, must guide all our actions. Jesus also gave a specific warning about leading children into sin. It is therefore right that all adult members of our community be committed to the care and protection of children, particularly from any kind of harm or neglect.
At Covenant, we seek to love others as Christ has loved us and this is reflected in the responsibilities we undertake. The safety of the children and young people in our care is paramount. We have been committed to this since our school was founded.
We regard our child protection responsibilities with the utmost importance, and as such are committed to providing the necessary resources to assist in maintaining relevant child protection legislation and to maintain safe and supportive physical and online environments for our students. We are committed to creating and embedding child safety into our leadership, our governance and our culture and want all students to feel safe and listened to.
We are committed to being a child safe organisation where we:
We value and are thankful of our partnership with you as parents. If you are concerned about the safety of any child, please contact us as we do take all concerns seriously.

What a wonderful day the Primary Swimming Carnival was! We had students stepping up and overcoming fears by trying new things, cheering for their houses and encouraging others. There were students going in multiple events, and we even had a record broken. It was so wonderful to see students using their gifts to glorify God!
Years 3 to 6 students swam their heart out at their annual swimming carnival on Tuesday. Whilst we missed Miss Hammond, Mrs Climpson did a fantastic job in ensuring the carnival ran smoothly. There were decorations, colours and high humidity! Thank you to all the staff and parents involved that worked together to create such an exciting, fun and smooth-running carnival.
House competition always creates some motivation for students, with many of the points coming from participation in events! This year the results were: 1st Aylward, 2nd Ten Boom, 3rd White, 4th Lewis.
Congratulations to all the swimmers that achieved personal best times, and a big congratulations to Mia C for breaking the 11 Years Girls 50m Butterfly Record that had been standing since 2005, set by Tanya Fenwick.
Congratulations to all the age champions from the day:
8 Years – Elbie B and Jesse P
9 Years – Ruby C and Kai T
10 Years – Megan O and Henry H
11 Years – Mia C and Macsen V
12 Years – Jacinta B and Ronan W
A group of students in Years 7 and 8 had the wonderful opportunity to learn the fundamentals of debating through a seminar and workshop presented by Masters Academy.
During the seminar, students considered the difference between an argument and debate, and were introduced to the process and roles involved in debating. The interactive workshop gave students practice in how to structure their point, rebut, and develop their public speaking skills.
Debating is an academically rigorous co-curricular program which encourages creative and critical thinking. At Covenant, our deep hope is that students involved in debating will develop Christ-like character such as humility, integrity and servant leadership.
We are excited to launch a new lunchtime Debating Club for students in Years 7 to 8. Inquiries regarding the Debating Club can be made by contacting Amanda Drain, Extension and Enrichment Coordinator (adrain@covenant.nsw.edu.au).

The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is an initiative of the NSW State Government which aims to encourage in students a love of reading for leisure and pleasure, and to enable students to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.
PRC runs from 26 February to 23 August 2024, however students can keep a record of books they are reading now to include in their 2024 reading records when the online reading records open.
Students who wish to participate must write their name and class on a list found in the Junior School library by Monday 26 February, 2024. The school will then register the students in the challenge if they haven’t already registered online.
PRC is divided into four groups: Kindergarten to Year 2, Year 3-4, Year 5-6 and Year 7-9. For more details of the challenge refer to the website www.online.det.nsw.edu.au or pick up information from the Junior School library. Please note, all reading records need to be validated by Thursday 15 August.
Students who complete the challenge for four years will receive a Gold Award. Students who have participated for seven years receive a Platinum Award. Students who have participated for nine years receive a medal.
Students who complete the challenge each year from Year 3 to Year 9 inclusive receive a PRC medal.
If you are new to Covenant and have participated in the PRC at your previous school, please let me know. Write your previous school next to your name when you register. I can then ask the PRC administrators to link your records.
