Japanese Cultural Day

Languages at Covenant Christian School aims to focus on tasks that enable authentic communication in the language students are learning.

The Year 10 students had the opportunity to explore communication in Japanese further during a visit to the Nihongo Tanken Centre.

The name ‘Nihongo Tanken’ means ‘exploring Japanese’ in the sense of an adventurous expedition into Japanese language and culture, seeking a deeper understanding of the Japanese language in context. The centre is a Japanese-style building and garden with the ‘look and feel’ of Japan. In such an environment, students were challenged and surprised by their ability to speak in Japanese the whole day, via exchanging information, ideas and opinions, and processing information through a range of written and multimodal texts in all three scripts (Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji)

よくできました、Year 10!
