Whether it is Year 6 having a taste of Italian, Years 7 and 8 studying Spanish or the elective classes in Japanese, German or Spanish, there is always something happening in the Language Department.
Learning and filming dialogues, making movies for competitions using technology and learning about other cultures is everyday fare in the Language classroom. The Education Perfect Championships saw us ranked 16th overall in NSW out of 99 schools competing. During the Lockdown time our teachers kept in touch with phone lessons or scripted and designed animations to make learning fun. The challenge of remote learning gave students learning Languages the opportunities to build on skills learned in the classroom and strengthen their understanding as independent learners and thinkers. A strong focus on speaking in the target language encourages confidence and growth as without risk and learning from mistakes there can be no conversations.
