How do you get a cow over a fast flowing river?!

This term, Year 8 have been learning about the design process.  Students were given the challenge “How do you get a cow over a fast flowing river?”.  They were given 4 pieces of A3 paper, 2 metres of tape and 2 skewers.  They were asked to consider the materials they were using and their properties before creating their response.

Students learnt about the concept of prototyping and made a prototype of their bridge.  Once they completed this, they were introduced to the idea of testing and the iterative nature of it.  The two classes then tested their bridges, even the teachers had an entry.  Can you guess who won??
