Hospitality Work placements

Students from the Year 12 Hospitality class went on their second round of work placement last week. Work placement is an essential part of the Hospitality course as it gives the students a taste of working in the industry and a chance to use the skills they have developed over the course of their studies. Each student worked at a restaurant for 5 days (35 hours) developing their skills and learning how restaurants operate effectively.

From the 9-13 March students represented Covenant in a most professional and highly skilled manner. The students turned up promptly each day with their chef’s uniforms and toolkits at the ready and each Head chef commented on their cheerful nature and their willingness to learn. The Chefs were impressed with their work ethic and well-rounded skill level, commenting that they were some of the best students they had ever hosted in their restaurants. 

Students were engaged in a range of food preparation, cooking and food plating tasks and they grew in confidence as the week progressed. The students have been trained in employability skills such as punctuality, courtesy, willingness to try new things and attention to detail and these attributes shone through our students.

It was a fabulous week for the students and they came back with greater confidence and respect for the industry.
