Cross Country 2019

A report from Alaura Hodge-Schrader and Indigo McAllan.

On Thursday 9 May, Covenant Christian School held our Cross Country event. The weather was sunny and it was a perfect day for a run. The Cross Country was organised by the Year 11 and 12 Sport and Recreation classes and their teacher, Mrs Purcell. In helping to organise the Cross Country, we learnt many skills that will benefit us in the future, especially in the workplace. We learnt skills such as communicating with colleagues, doing risk assessments, collecting equipment, creating programs and even the correct technology required to run a sporting event.

Cross Country is really a community event. Thanks to the 25 parent helpers, the Maintenance team who set up ropes among other things, the teachers who got their classes to the oval on time, and the Café staff who provided drinks. Special thanks to Mr Wakeford, Miss Hammond and Miss Kane who put in some extra special help!

Cross Country is an excellent way of encouraging house spirit, even if students aren't competing to win. The students participated with great enthusiasm, and it was good to see everyone encouraging each other to do their best and have fun.

Congratulations to everyone who did their best!

Now, what we all really want to know…House Point totals across both Primary and Secondary. Points were given for people who participated and then extra points given to those who came in the top 10. (e.g. 1st = 10 points, 2nd = 9 points etc.)

1. WHITE = 416 points
2. AYLWARD = 415 points
3. LEWIS = 342 points
4. TEN BOOM = 341 points
