This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply the skills and knowledge to coach participants up to an intermediate level in a specific sport. This qualification provides a pathway to work in community coaching roles working or volunteering at community-based sport clubs and organisations in the Australian sport industry. Individuals with this qualification possess a range of well-developed skills where discretion and judgement are required. They are responsible for their own outputs.
Course content includes: customise coaching for athletes with specific needs; communicate effectively with others in a sport environment; maintain sport, fitness, and recreation equipment for activities; undertake risk analysis of activities; manage conflict; provide first aid; develop and update knowledge of coaching practices; coach beginner or novice participants to develop fundamental motor skills; plan and deliver coaching programs; a range of specific sport related units e.g. swimming, basketball, rugby.
