Senior (11-12)

Becoming
Independent Learners

The final years at Covenant are filled with choices, opportunities and challenge. While our students’ significant academic achievements are recognised, all students who have worked faithfully and with dedication are celebrated.

Progressing through to the senior years, students are encouraged to become independent learners. Year 12 students have the use of their own Common Room and quiet study rooms to encourage responsibility for the effective use of their time. A wide range of subjects are offered for the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and students may choose to undertake courses either at school, through a TAFE College or by distance education options.

In addition to the languages offered at Covenant, our students can also study through the NSW School of Languages. Showcase evenings throughout the year highlight students’ HSC major works in Industrial Technology, Textiles, Design and Technology, Music, Visual Arts, Drama, and Dance.

Diverse Subject Choices

Covenant Christian School offers students 40 HSC Electives providing plenty of options to turn passions into professions.

Covenant provides a supportive environment for students to focus on their studies. The school’s quality facilities cater for a wide variety of interests, enabling students to achieve their best in the creative arts, sport, technology or academic spheres.

Careers Advice and Wisdom

The HSC is an important stepping stone requiring support, guidance and advice from godly role models.

Throughout their time at Covenant, students are equipped to live for God’s glory. During the later years in Secondary School, attention is given to life after school and options for further study and work. Covenant’s careers guidance involves helping students make informed decisions based on careers information, self-knowledge and the opportunities available. Students are kept up to date with the latest information on careers and further study opportunities.

Wendy

Teachers, counsellors and our Careers Adviser, Mrs Wendy Gilbert, work with students to help them evaluate their options. Mrs Gilbert liaises with parents, teachers, employers, community agencies and training providers to facilitate the best possible solution for each individual student at Covenant. Various experts are also engaged with visiting speakers from universities and an annual careers day featuring a representatives from a range of industries. This event provides an opportunity for students to ask questions and better understand the realities of different occupations. Careers advice may also continue after graduation as students reconsider and explore options.

“I love teenagers, so it is my absolute pleasure to work with the high school students, to hear them talk about their dreams and passions. They are all so unique and amazing!”
WENDY GILBERT, CAREERS ADVISER

Friendships, Memories and Diverse Pathways

Covenant seeks to equip students to live for God’s glory. The majority of students will proceed straight to university, while some will defer to travel or work. Others will take alternative study options, seek ministry training and gap year opportunities. We thank God for the abilities each student has been given, for the hard work they put into their studies, and for the dedicated teachers who support them along the way.
