Last week students and staff enjoyed absolute stunning weather to complete the Silver and Gold Practice walks. They hiked along a portion of the Great North Walk, finally reaching a common destination at Patonga. Enjoying the ferry trip across the water to either Brooklyn or Palm Beach, the students made their own way home on the Friday evening.
Terrain was varied with plateaus, hills, valleys, climbs and descents. Mr Eslick, Mrs Vanderstraaten, and over 28 Gold walkers started from Yarramalong near Gosford. They were joined the next day by a group of six Silver walkers, along with Mr Hill and Mrs Freestone, who started with egg and bacon rolls, hot chocolate or coffee at the Somersby Store, and then disappeared into the bush for the next 3 days with just the packs on their back. Our organiser and support crew Mr Pain was our only link to the outside world with water drops and extra help through both day and night!
Watching the sunset from Mt Wondabyne and the following amazing sunrise EARLY the next morning was a highlight for many. Seeing the beauty of God’s creation
and enjoying the fellowship along the way was also a very special way to spend some time developing skills, fitness and character.
