Meet our 2020 Principal

The Board is delighted to announce that Mrs Melissa Brown will commence as school Principal in January 2020.

Meet the Board

Covenant submits to the authority of God's word and seeks to be obedient and faithful to Him in all that it does. Christian parents are encouraged to become members of the school Association which elects the Board. Board members are active members of several different churches.

Mrs Karen Andersen

Karen attends St David's Anglican Church at Forestville and works for Telstra as an in-house lawyer. Her two children both attend the school.

“We were drawn to Covenant by its Godly teachers and former student recommendations. We were impressed about the love and care the teachers show the students. Over the last 2 years, we have learned about the critical importance of Christian Education to equip our kids in this increasingly challenging world. I want to serve on the Board to help Covenant to stay biblically based and Christ-centred, and to aid Christian parents to raise their kids as bible believing Christians.”

Karen joined the Board in 2018.

Mr Graham Baikie

Graham attends Frenchs Forest Anglican Church and works as Finance Manager at The Scots College. His three children all attend the school.

“My first connection with Covenant was through friends at a church youth group in the late-1980s - they were children truly living for God’s glory. This drew us back to the school for our children in 2006. With three kids at Covenant spanning 18 years, I am thankful for the love and prayers of the teachers for the kids as they, together with us parents, provide a Christ-centred, biblically grounded, culturally engaging and academically rigorous education. I am honoured to serve on the Board and Finance Committee, bringing 25 years of finance experience, to ensure we uphold the vision and mission of the school for future generations.”

Graham joined the Board in 2015.

Mrs Anne Baker

Anne attends All Saints Anglican Church Balgowlah and works as the Administration Assistant for St James Kindergarten. Her children previously attended Covenant.“Even though I stepped off the school Board a few years ago, I was still very much connected to Covenant through my roles on the CEN National Board and chair of CEN State Council. After finishing my last term on the National Board, I felt God calling me back to the Covenant Board to serve here again.”Anne returned the Board in 2018.

Mrs Carmelina Read

Carmelina attends Chatswood Presbyterian Church and works at Christ College as the Dean of Women. Her three younger children attend the school while her eldest has graduated from Covenant.“Serving as a Director of the School Board is an opportunity to give back to the school in thanksgiving for the many ways it has and is serving my family. It is also a way of contributing to the ways in which the school assists all parents to raise their children to live for God's glory in Christ. Ultimately, we want all people to live for God's glory in every aspect of their lives. Serving as a Director of the Board is an area of Christian ministry focused on a community designed to be an extension of the homes of parents, and an opportunity to help the school continue to fulfil its mission and vision.”

Carmelina joined the Board in 2015.

Mrs Tasha Smithies

Tasha attends St David’s Anglican Church in Forestville, and works as a lawyer for Channel Ten. Her four children attend the school.

“Our family loves the whole Covenant experience. We were looking for a co-ed Christian school and Covenant was the obvious - and only - choice.  Few schools wear their Christianity on their sleeve in the way Covenant does, and it’s reassuring to know that what gets taught at home is the same as what gets taught at school.”

Tasha joined the Board in 2013.

Dr Philip Selden

Philip attends St Faiths Anglican Church Narrabeen, where he serves as an honorary member of the ministry staff. His children attended the school in the early days.

“I am thankful for Covenant's continuing reformed evangelical emphasis, and for the effect it had on my family.  I am glad of the opportunity to serve on the Board and to seek to maintain that great heritage.”

Dr Philip Selden joined the Board in November 2016.

Mr Dean Stewart - Chair

Dean attends Chatswood Presbyterian Church and works for Macquarie Bank. His two children attend the school.

“I believe that Christian Education, by which I mean teaching and training children to follow Jesus, is a crucially important ministry. My greatest desire for my own children is for them to grow up to be faithful and fruitful Christians, and I'm really thankful for everything that Covenant and all the staff do for my own children to this end. I want to serve alongside them, to help every child in the school grow in their faith. I also benefited hugely from going to a Christ-centred Christian school as a student. As a member of the Board my aim is to help ensure that Covenant continues to be faithful in its mission, raising young disciples of Jesus.”

Dean returned to the Board in 2016.

Mrs Alison Streeter

Alison attends Christchurch Anglican in St Ives and works in HR at Streeter Law. Her three children attend the school. She has had the privilege of being involved with Christian Education for the past 25 years.

“It is an extraordinary privilege to be a part of the Covenant Christian School community. I am very passionate about using the different gifts and abilities that God has equipped me with to work hard to ensure that the vision and mission of the school remains faithful and true to the vision and mission of the founding members.”

Alison returned the Board in 2018.
