Meet the Board

Our Mission ... assisting parents in the nurture of their children, providing a Bible-based, Christ-centred, culturally engaging, academically rigorous education which equips the children to live for God's glory.

Covenant Christian School Belrose exists to assist you as a parent in your God given role. Our school is governed by Christian parents sharing a common vision. It is ultimately the parents who set the direction and policies of the school. As a Christian parent you are encouraged to become a member enabling you to have your say.

The Association members elect the Board. The Board’s role is to act as an interface between the staff who make the day to day operational decisions and the association parents.

We believe an active, strong association means a healthy Christian school where we as parents can assist our teachers to “train our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” Ephesians 6:4. The school is a member of Christian Education National.

Interviews with the Board

Mr Rod Post - Chairman
How long have you been involved at Covenant?
I would have to say that our involvement (Vanessa and myself) with Covenant goes back over 19 years. But that’s another story. More recently, however, we have been involved since we moved back from Melbourne in 2004.
Why did you decide to go on the school board?
A couple of reasons, I guess. I am passionate about Christian Schooling, but I thought it would be good to be on the board to help Covenant retain its Christian identity, so we need a strong board with a variety of talents to work at retaining and growing this identity. I pray that I can contribute some of the talents I have been given to help on the board.

Mrs Anne Baker
How long have you been involved at Covenant?
Our family came to Covenant in 1994 when our eldest child started in Kindergarten.
Why did you decide to go on the school board?
I was asked to consider joining the board and felt God leading me into this role. It was a great opportunity to support the school in this way.

Mr Ian Carmichael
How long have you been involved at Covenant?
Since 1997 when my daughter started Kindy. (Actually, I think I became an association member in 1996 before we even had a child at the school.)
Why did you decide to go on the school board?
In Term 1 1997 I went to a working bee and quickly realised if I was going to contribute to the school with my skills, it was more likely to be in the board room than laying pavers or doing anything handy. I was also asked to go on the board.

Mrs Frea Sietsma
How long have you been involved at Covenant?
Since I was one of the foundation members who worked towards establishing a school in the Manly Warringah area. Later, I became the School Counsellor and Careers Advisor at Covenant. So, I would say at least 25-30 years!
Why did you decide to go on the school board?
Like many things in my life, it seemed the right time. After many rewarding years at Covenant I am now ready to serve the school community in a different capacity.
In 25 years, society’s values and attitudes have changed and schools reflect some of these changes. The challenge is to embrace the positive elements of change whilst remaining true to God’s word.

Mrs Alison Streeter
How long have you been involved at Covenant?
I had the privilege and great joy of teaching Kindergarten at Covenant from 1999-2001. I joined the Board in 2003 and finally became a parent at the school in 2006.
Why did you decide to go on the school board?
Christian education is something that I have been passionate about for almost 20 years. Being on the Board as a parent representative provides me with opportunities to serve the school community by seeking to ensure that Covenant remains true to its vision and mission statement, thus ensuring that Christ-centred education will continue throughout this institution for many years to come.
