The UNSW Mathematics Competition, and the Australian Mathematics competition were held in August this year. Many students competed this year, and we achieved some excellent results. Many students participated in Years 7 – 12, and we had some wonderful results. As well as certificates of participation, proficiency and credit, the following students achieved a distinction in either or both competitions. Year 7: Mario Cheng, Zoe Hilton, Allister Killen, Ryan Poon, Isabelle Tukin, Angel Cheung Year 8: Ben Duce, Andrea Chau, Calvin Mace, Brian O’Callaghan, Josh Russell, Alec Sheerlock Year 9: Rebecca Duan, Murray Sullivan, Toru Takamatsu, Joseph Chen Year 10: Brandon Poon, Toby Tucker, Tom Sheehan, Josiah Cheung, Andrew Chen, Eugene Au-yeung Year 11: Daichi Watanabe, Bethany Sullivan, Josh Chee The following students achieved High Distinctions: Yr 10 Andrew Wye (HD UNSW, D Aust) Kingsley Poon (HD UNSW) Glen Carmichael (HD Aust – top 1% of the competition entrants, HD UNSW) Congratulations to Mitchell Zalai of Year 10 who won the Prudence award for the Australian Mathematics competition – given to the student from Covenant who achieved the most number of correct answers in a row. Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the competitions. It was wonderful to see so many students involved in the Mathematics competitions this year.
