Holiday projects September 2009

Date Posted: 20-Oct-2009

Running a school takes a lot of work behind the scenes. Each holidays a team of trades people go to work at Covenant. These holidays there were a large number of projects taking place. Many of them would not be noticed by students or staff but all help ensure the school is making the most of its resources and planning for the long term.

The school berm (on Forest Way) has now been completely replanted with a new fence installed. The fence provides protection for the plants and safety for students.  We have also continued with more seating and fencing on the oval on the west side. This will provide more shaded seating for students.

Work has continued on replacing old window frames on B,C,D and E blocks. We are on schedule to complete this project by December in line with our commitment to the Government under the National Schools Pride funding.

  • * In the hall new lights, speakers and microphones were tested in preparation for this year's Beauty and the Beast Musical
  • * 60 Table tops replaced
  • * Chair feet checked and replaced - there are a lot of chairs when you start checking them one by one!
  • * Door locks and hinges - oiled / fixed / replaced throughout the school
  • * Rotten timbers on upper windows on several buildings are being replaced.
  • * Carpets cleaned in C, D and G Blocks
  • * New retaining fence, artificial turf and seats are being installed along the oval next to G Block.
  • * Fixing the airconditioner in G21 in time for the warmer months
  • * Biocycle pumped out

A lot of electrical work was also done around the school. This included the hall electrical board being upgraded to cope with the combined demands of the hall and kitchen
