On the 18th of September Year 7 went on a geography excursion to The Blue Mountains. Our bus trip was quite long and we had to wake up early if we wanted to make it there on time, but it was well worth it when we got there. When we got to The Blue Mountains we had a quick recess break and then off to our first activity. (More photos to come.) First we went down a miners cart as the coal miners who used to mine there had to be transported by something. (The cart was modified so nobody could fall out along the way). The cart was very long and had many separate carriages and the track was very steep, but it was so slow that it wasn’t quite as scary as we had imagined, it was still fun though and it woke us up for the rest of the day. Then we were back to work. We went walking all around the mountains from top to bottom. We saw old miners tools, some very old trees, native animals and even the old miners cart and we were very happy that we didn’t have to go down on that old thing. After we went on our walk and learnt all the information we needed to know we were transported back up to the top by a cable car. We were able to see all the mountains around us and were amazed at how incredible God is for creating all the beautiful mountains and bush land that was surrounding us. Our last stop before we headed home was the cinemas, we saw a movie about The Blue Mountains, the history of it and ancient trees that where thought to be extinct found alive and are as old as some dinosaurs. After this we were back on the bus and heading home. We were buzzing with information and were so glad we went. It was a great day. Lucy Green Year 7
