Three Lamps - HSC Design and Technology Major Design Project

Date Posted: 21-Sep-2009

At this year's Fusion night HSC students showcased their amazing variety of projects.  Megan Berry shares her story behind her The Three Lamps Design and Technology Major Design Project ...

"At the beginning of the year when I was deciding what to make for my Major Design Project, I didn’t really know what to do. I knew from past experience that fashion design or textiles wasn’t something I enjoyed. From this, I looked into the area of interior design, and I thought that lighting would be a really interesting, new area which I could explore.

My idea transformed from one lamp to three, and my need changed as my ideas developed. I decided to make something that would affect me personally, and which I would be able to enjoy for a long time.

My three lamps were designed specifically with rooms in my house in mind. Making them easily adjustable and changeable was something I thought would ensure a long life for my lamps. This was also something I had never seen before on the market.

The idea was completely my own. Although the making process sometimes became boring and extremely time consuming, I am proud that I have been able to finish them to the highest standard possible. They are now on display being used in my home."
