Covenant Christian School is excited to announce an expansion of the Junior School Music program. This will be launched in 2010. We believe it will be a great bonus to our students and families. This expanded program is being covered in existing school fees and in school time. The school is investing around $26,000 on new instruments, with further amounts planned. This initial investment includes 20 violins, 6 cellos, 4 trumpets and 3 trombones. Starting in first term 2010 Year 4 will spend six months on a training band program and then six months on a string program. Each Year 4 music class will have up to 24 students. The Training Band will combine 4 Flutes, 4 Clarinets, 4 Altos Saxophones, 3 Tenor Saxophones, 4 Trumpets, 2 Trombones and 3 percussion. Instruments will be provided by the school, or students can bring in their own How the Training Band weekly program will work... • A 30 minute classroom lesson will be a whole band rehearsal with Mrs Staples • Each student will also receive a smaller group instrumental lesson from our current specialist tutors.
