Premiers Adventure Challenge gives free access to museums

The Premier of New South Wales Australia Nathan Rees MP recently wrote to all Parents and Carers letting them know about a new initiative to encourage families to visit NSW museum and art galleries. We have copied the letter here for you...

NSW has some of the most exciting museums and art galleries in Australia and I want every family to enjoy them and feel at home in them, especially our children.

That's why I'm delighted to announce a new plan to get our primary school children involved in the arts, the Premier's Adventure Challenge.

Most of you would have heard about the Premier's Reading Challenge, which has done wonders in getting our children to enjoy reading and books. I want to see the same enthusiasm in the arts, with more children discovering the riches of our amazing museums and galleries.

The Challenge is easy: Simply take your child to one of the 70+ participating museums and galleries across NSW and get their free Kids' Adventure Passport.

This is how it works:

•    Every. primary school student (K to 6) can participate by visiting one of the 70+ participating institutions across NSW;

•    Most of the institutions are free, but for those with a general admission charge, each passport holder will be entitled to free entry on weekends, public holidays and school holidays;

•    The passport is valid from 13 July 2009 to 27 January 2010;

•    Passport holders collect a sticker or a stamp on each visit;

•    Once three stamps have been collected, complete and return the tear-off form at the back of the passport and I will send your child an official Premier's Adventurer Certificate to acknowledge their achievement.

A great range of prizes will be awarded to those families who finish the challenge quickly. Further details can be found at www.arts.nsw.gov.au.

And remember, if you use public transport to visit a museum or gallery on Sundays, you can get unlimited all-day travel on City Rail trains, buses and ferries for just $2.50 per person under our special Family Funday Sunday program.
