Primary Zone and State Swimming

Tuesday, March 04, 2008

On Tuesday  35 Primary students met at Warringah Aquatic Centre for the Primary Zone Swimming Carnival.

The competition was fierce from many of the other eight schools, but the Covenant students tried their best and cheered each other on. Covenant came 6th overall.

Our best results came from Annaliese Macdonald – 1st in the 9 years Breaststroke, Zarli Robinson – 2nd in the 8 years Breaststroke, Elysha Robinson – 2nd in the 11 years Breaststroke and Joshua Pearson – 3rd in the 8 years Backstroke and 1st in the 50m Freestyle and Breaststroke. Josh was also awarded 8 year boy Age Champion – well done!
Congratulations to these four students who then went on to compete for our zone at State on Monday 10 March.

At State, our very strong North Metropolitan zone came 1st! Covenant’s competitors swam well to all come in the top seven of their events. Joshua Pearson achieved our best result coming 2nd overall in the 50m Freestyle and will now go on to represent the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) at the Combined Independent Schools carnival on Wednesday 2 April. Well done to all students and congratulations to Josh!

Thank you to all the parents who helped out with timekeeping at zone or transport to State.
