Covenant recently introduced Early Childhood as an elective for students. One of the great advantages of having a Preschool to Year 12 school is the students doing this course can gain practical experience by crossing over the playground. The Early Childhood students have been visiting Kindy classes.
One exercise was to help the Kindy students write a sentence about a picture they had drawn. Another was where they had to find out how the students felt when they started school and did a drawing to express their ideas. Then they had to express how they feel now. They did this by making a face on a biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed eating it!!!
Kindergarten is a significant part of children and parents lives. Here at Covenant we believe the Christian foundations laid at this age can provide our children with a lifetime love of learning and Christ. While most of the students are already familiar with the school through Transition (our pre-school) we also welcomed several new faces to our community. Enjoy these photos. There are quite a few trying to capture some of the days adventures. There was lots more but some of these kids are too fast for the photographer and other kids kept coming back for more!
Parents enjoyed a morning tea as a way to meet other families and be welcomed into the Covenant community. Well done to everyone!!
On Tuesday 27 of the 39 new students joining Year 1 to Year 6 next year were welcomed to Covenant for an orientation day. After a brief tour of the Junior School they joined their buddies in the classrooms. For some children this was their first time at school and for others it was a chance to catch up with good friends. A lunch was also provided to give over 20 new parents a chance to meet.
On Wednesday 30 of the 35 new students joining Year 7 in High School had their orientation day. Current Year 6 students also had the chance to tour and experience the High School with the new students.
The school is growing as more families discover "Covenant is worth a closer look". Well done and thank you to all the buddies. We look forward to welcoming these students back next year.
Orientation day is a chance for kids to experience a morning of Big School in preparation for next year. Today a wonderful group of young people discovered more about Covenant and Kindergarten. For some it is quite familiar as they are in Transition here and for others it was all new. The morning included story reading, colouring in, building with blocks and singing. For parents it was a chance to meet other parents over a morning tea and be entertained by a musical production of Jonah Man Jazz.
