Billy Cart Racing excitement

Thursday, December 04, 2008
The Annual Covenant Billy Cart Race is eagerly looked forward to by students and parents. The Melbourne Cup may stop the nation but the Billy Cart Race has far more inpact on our community. The workmanship and teamwork which goes into the carts is amazing. Before the race several parents were checking out the steering mechanisms of competitors for inspiration for next year. Mr Chipollone ran through the rules, the braking test area plus the bonus point system before the race.

With a variety of brakes, size of wheels, weight and steering mechanisms there was considerable variety in the field. Some brakes were overly sensitive, some slow to act and others even unnecessary. The enthusiastic crowd cheered the carts on and were even rewarded with Jelly Beans from one team.

Well done to all the students ... and any parents who may have helped just a little bit!!!

Year 5 Billy Cart Day

Thursday, December 20, 2007
The annual Year 5 Billy Cart Day was once again a great success. This day, (almost a threatened species due to global speed bumps),  avoided death row thanks to Michael Veron's last minute intervention. There were thrills, spills, thumps and bumps.

The winning cart was Wildfire, the best looking was ZAMS and the best crash was by Laura Blumer! Thanks to all the Year 5 kids who smiled the whole time, whether moving at speed or simply moving.
Thanks to all the dads for getting highly involved on the technical side and thanks to all the mums for letting them.

Thanks especially to Mrs Kohlhoff and Mrs Harding for running a great event. Year 4… start your engines!
