Commerce stalls teach business skills

Wednesday, November 26, 2008
On Wednesday the 19th of November, Year 9 commerce class held a market day to experience and learn how to run a business. We had an amount of money from buying shares in our company, which we had to stick to and this was used for advertising and buying the products we were selling.
There were a range of stalls open for high school and teachers to buy things from, there were milkshakes, sausage sizzle, and chocolate dipped things for sale, as well as choc tops, dumplings, snow cones, and drinks.

The group I was in made choc tops, we ran into a few snags such as a lot of the ice-cream melting, and it got fair messy, but it was a fun way of learning. My group decided that all he profit we made would go to charity, with all the groups donating over $200 to various charities.

Although it was hard work, it was a fun and exciting day.
